Experiential Learning Call for
Proposals Opens March 1

Want to know where we’re going with NextG and security? Check out the newly funded projects in CCI’s research section, specifically the Securing NextG Program. While 5G is still rolling out across the globe, CCI researchers are thinking ahead about how to secure fast, powerful mobile wireless networks that incorporate artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Researchers who are part of the Securing NextG Program will be meeting on March 1 to discuss their work and possibly lay the groundwork for future, larger collaborations.

New research:
Humans and cybersecurity systems
|
|
Researchers funded by the CCI Northern Virginia regional node, which is led by George Mason University, are studying the impact of human behavior on cybersecurity systems. The research projects include researching the best approaches to guard older people from cyberattacks, how COVID-19 changed the virtual workplace and cybersecurity’s role, adaptive cybersecurity encryption, and characterizing biases in automated scam detection tools to help people with developmental disabilities.

CCI Cyber Showcase:
5:30-7 p.m. March 23
|
|
High school students in Coastal Virginia who are considering college pathways in cybersecurity are invited to attend the CCI Cyber Showcase. I think the enthusiasm of our current cybersecurity students is one of the best ways to attract new students to our expanding field. Many high school students and their families attended the 2021 event hosted by the CCI Coastal Virginia Node, which is led by Old Dominion University. I’m looking forward to the showcase held from 5:30-7 p.m. on March 23.
Students interested in the cybersecurity field can learn about career and educational resources and meet industry and educational partners and current cybersecurity students. It’s a free online event and open to the public. Registration is required
