Liza Wilson-Durant
Liza Wilson Durant is the associate provost for strategic initiatives and community engagement and George Mason University, and a professor and associate dean at the College of Engineering and Computing. She is currently the director of Commonwealth Cyber Initiative's (CCI) Northern Virginia Node. In these roles, Durant builds meaningful partnerships across the university, and node, with external corporate, government, academic, non-profit, and global entities to support strategic objectives.
Before her appointment as associate dean, she was chair of the Sid and Reva Dewberry Department of Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering. Durant conducts classes in environmental engineering, hydrologic engineering, environmental microbiology, and information technology for engineers. She received her PhD in environmental engineering from Johns Hopkins University, where he research focused on bioremediationof petroleum hydrocarbons in aquifier materials under mixed electron acceptor conditions.
Durant was recognized as a 2023 Virginia Business Magazine Women in Leadership Award recipient and 2023 Northern Virginia Technology Council Cyber50 Executive honoree.
