Jim Mollenkopf

Jim Mollenkopf recently retired after a long career bridging technology and business roles.  

Most recently, he was vice president, Strategic Development, at Qualcomm, leading efforts with government customers aimed at leveraging Qualcomm's commercial portfolio for difficult national security missions.   

Prior to Qualcomm, Mollenkopf served as chief technology officer at CURRENT Group, a provider of smart grid and broadband technology and services. 

While at CURRENT, he drove the strategy and system development of an array of innovative smart grid technologies, and served as a key member of several IEEE standards groups.  He has been awarded 25 U.S. patents.   

Earlier in Mollenkopf’s career, he led satellite payload development and also worked for the federal government. 

He earned a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech. He lives in Fairfax, Va.
