CCI xG Testbed team collaborating with WiSig Networks

Oct. 23, 2024

WiSig Networks, a leader in 5G and O-RAN, is collaborating with the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative’s xG Testbed team, a North American Open Testing and Integration Center (OTIC), to  test and evaluate WiSig O-RAN components (O-CU, O-DU, O-RU, SMO) for global commercialization.

The company, led by Kiran Kuchi, a professor with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad, is a pioneering supplier of advanced 5G and O-RAN equipment, software, and services.

The project will:

  • Measure the conformance, performance, and interoperability of WiSig's O-CU, O-DU, and O-RU solutions.
  • Integrate WiSig's SMO and Non-RT RIC with the CCI xG testbed.
  • Deploy advanced O-RAN use cases through xApp and rApp, to be validated both in the lab in the Washington, D.C., metro area and in the field at Blacksburg.
  • Conduct groundbreaking O-RAN research in partnership with IIT Hyderabad to enhance WiSig O-RAN components.
