NextGen Security Warnings
In the funded project Designing Next-Generation Security Warnings to Mitigate Social Media Misinformation, researchers developed innovative warning designs to increase the likelihood that digital device users would take notice and pay attention.

As users become accustomed to standard alert messages, their attention fades, and they sometimes ignore or miss warnings.
Researchers designed and evaluated misinformation mitigation solutions based on real-world social media platforms by analyzing habits and reactions to warnings, collecting data through eye-tracking devices and neuro-based brain activity scanners (i.e., electroencephalogram or EEG).

The project extended cybersecurity research by creating effective misinformation mitigation solutions to help social media users with low media literacy.
