Teams from around Virginia attend Commonwealth Cyber Fusion 2023

February 24-25, 2023

Cyber Fusion 2023, hosted by Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., welcomed representatives from insitutions of higher education from across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

About 150 students and 30 faculty advisors attended. The annual invitation-only event, co-sponsored by the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative and Virginia Cyber Range, is open to Virginia colleges that are designated National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense

CCI industry partner CACI was part of the event and gave a CACI Kit, which includes a networked single-board computer kit and Wi-Fi card, to each of the community college teams.

The two-day event included a job fair, speakers, and panels, a networking dinner, and a capture-the-flag cyber competition.

Capture the Flag Competition

UVA winning team in four-year-college division at Cyber Fusion 2023
The University of Virginia's team won the four-year-college division of Capture the Flag, as well as the Commonwealth Fusion Cyber Cup.

Four-Year College Winners

The University of Virginia team took first place in the four-year-college division. Liberty University came in second place, while George Mason University was third.

Two-Year College Winners

Tidewater Community College (TCC) came in first place in the community college division. Laurel Ridge Community College took second, while Virginia Western Community College was third.
