Cyberforge 2023 draws students from CCI Coastal Virginia area
March 18-19, 2023
About 70 students representing eight community colleges and universities, as well as area high schools, attended Cyberforge 2023 on March 18 to 19 at Christopher Newport University.
The event, hosted by the Coastal Virginia node of the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative, the Christopher Newport University (CNU) Cybersecurity Club, and the Coastal Virginia Cybersecurity Student Association, featured speakers, career sessions, workshops, and a capture-the-flag competition.
Students from Old Dominion University (ODU) and Christopher Newport University planned and led the event.
Featured speakers included:
- David Raymond, director of Virginia Cyber Range
- Michael Kouremetis, Lead Cyber Operations Engineer and Group Lead at MITRE
- Michael Morey, senior principal engineer, Frontier Technology
- Michael Woods, NCIS Special Agent
