Background
John Ferris joined the Virginia Tech faculty in 2005 as an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering, where he has participated in dozens of sponsored research projects totaling over $11 million.

Over the past 30 years, Ferris has established a global reputation for his work on mobile road mapping systems, virtual proving ground development, vehicle dynamics, chassis design for durability, customer usage and test correlation, and driver-vehicle interactions. He has published over 60 peer reviewed papers and led panel discussions and given keynote addresses in Europe and Australia.
