Background

Zhao is an associate professor in Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She holds an MS and a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering.

Prior to joining VCU, she was a faculty member at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

Zhao has secured more than $1 million in research grants supported by NSF, NASA and Air Force. She has published more than 70 papers in prestigious journals and international conferences. She is an IEEE senior member.
