Background
Hiram H. López is an assistant professor in Virginia Tech’s Department of Mathematics.
He previously held positions as an assistant professor at Cleveland State University and as a postdoctoral fellow at Clemson University.
He holds a Ph.D. in mathematics and a B.S. in applied mathematics.
López researches connections of commutative algebra, such as vanishing ideals and Gröbner basis, with the fundamentals of coding theory and its applications, including quantum error correction, coding for post-quantum cryptography, and distributed storage systems.
