Background
Joel Kirch is an associate professor at Tidewater Community College. He teaches cybersecurity and other information technology and networking courses for the information technology program.

He spent the past 20 years working for the U.S. Navy in a variety of roles; contractor, consultant, and Civil Servant (twice). While the titles have changed, his jobs evolved from computer scientist to network security engineer as his interests shifted more towards computer and network security.

Alma Mater
Kirch is currently pursuing a D.Eng. in cybersecurity from Old Dominion University. He earned his M.S. in network security from Capitol College, his B.S. in information science from Christopher Newport University, and his A.S. from Thomas Nelson Community College. He also holds the CISSP and OSCP certifications.
