Research Summary
Jennifer Maeng is currently collaborating with faculty from UVa’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, and School of Education and Human Development on a mixed-methods investigation of the experiences of historically underrepresented students in STEM, which will inform the development, implementation, and evaluation of interventions designed to improve students’ persistence and achievement in STEM.
Background
Maeng is a Research Associate Professor in Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education at UVa’s School of Education and Human Development. She has extensive experience implementing experimental and quasi-experimental designs to assess outcomes of STEM and engineering interventions for students and teachers.
Maeng has served as Co-PI or PI on $10 million and above projects funded by USED, NSF, NOAA, and NIJ. Dr. Maeng’s research has been broadly disseminated in journals such as JRST, Science Education, IJSE, JChemEd, and RISE.
