Background
Burger is part of CCI’s leadership team working on the research investment strategy of the CCI network.
Burger has extensive experience in telecommunications policy, having served as chief technology officer for the Federal Communications Commission and assistant director for the Office of Science and Technology Policy at the White House.
His current role as director of the Next G Alliance Academic/Research Office complements CCI's research focus on securing the next generation of mobile networks. He is also chair of the Next G Alliance Research Council.
He is research professor of NextG security, has a courtesy appointment as research professor of electrical and computer engineering in Virginia Tech's Bradley School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and research professor of public policy in Virginia Tech's School of Public and International Affairs. He is affiliated with the Department of Computer Science, the Virginia Tech National Security Institute, and Wireless@VT.
Alma Mater
Burger attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, received an MBA from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, and a Ph.D in computer science from Illinois Tech.
