Background

Ryu is a professor, in VCU’s Department of Kinetic Imaging’s School of the Arts, an associate professor in VCU’s Department of Internal Medicine’s  School of Medicine (affiliate), and affiliated faculty at VCU’s College of Humanities and Sciences’ MATX (Media, Art and Text PhD program).

Ryu’s 3D animations, VR interactive artworks and papers have been presented at international venues of screenings, exhibitions, performances and publications in 23 countries.

She is a recipient of VCU arts faculty award of distinguished achievement in research, winner of Hamilton International Arts in Health award 2020 (Arts for Innovation), and has been featured at TEDxRVA, with her talk “Virtual Reality for Han.”
