Background

Lourentzou is an assistant professor at Virginia Tech’s Department of Computer Science, where she leads the Perception and LANguage (PLAN) Lab. She’s also a member of the Sanghani Center for Artificial Intelligence and Discovery Analytics, and an affiliate faculty member of the National Security Institute and the Center for Advanced Innovation in Agriculture.

Previously, she was a research scientist at IBM Almaden Research Center, working on machine learning, natural language processing, and information retrieval problems. 

She holds a B.S. in Business Administration, and a B.S. and Ph.D., in Computer Science.
