Background
Tureman is an associate professor of information systems technology for Paul D. Camp Community College at the Suffolk Campus. He teaches in the areas of information technology, computer science, and cybersecurity.
Tureman joined Paul D. Camp Community College in 1983 after working in computer analysis and software development for System Development Corporation and Data Design Laboratories in Norfolk, Virginia.
He was named a Chancellor's Commonwealth Professor for the Virginia Community College System for 1991-1993. He has been a summer faculty fellow in the ASEE fellowship program at NASA's Langley Research Center, most recently in 1996. He was a recipient in the 1989 Competition for Excellence conducted by the League for Innovation in the Community College and IBM Corporation. He has completed numerous grant funded projects and published several papers.

Tureman received his M.S in computer science from Old Dominion University in 1981, and his B.S in computer science from Old Dominion University in 1979.
